The 2025 edition of the International Federation of Exhibition and Events Services annual World Summit recently concluded in the vibrant city of Guadalajara, Mexico, marking a standout moment for the international exhibition and events community. For the more than two hundred participants from across the globe that came together at Expo Guadalajara, the Summit offered three dynamic days of connection, insight, and shared purpose \u2013 guided by this year\u2019s theme: \u201cTransforming Learnings into a Sustainable Future.\u201d

<\/p>\n

Held in one of Latin America\u2019s most culturally rich and business-savvy cities, the Summit delivered on its promise to inspire, challenge and connect with an agenda designed not only for learning, but also for the all-important informal exchanges that are so vital to the IFES network.<\/p>\n

Spotlight on a Region of Opportunity<\/strong>
Guadalajara proved to be more than a host city, it became an essential part of the Summit\u2019s narrative. The location\u2019s unique blend of innovation, creativity, and hospitality provided the perfect setting to shine a light on the growing importance of the Latin American region in the global events landscape.

<\/p>\n

From the energy of the local organisers to the strong regional presence throughout the programme, the Summit highlighted how Latin America\u2019s potential, both commercially and creatively, is becoming increasingly central to the industry’s future.

A Programme That Delivered Depth and Inspiration<\/strong>
The 2026 content programme was carefully curated to reflect the spirit of transformation and innovation.

<\/p>\n

A highlight was the keynote session with Carlos Mats,<\/strong> a multidisciplinary technologist and global thought leader, who led a discussion on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Describing AGI as \u201cthe last invention of humankind,\u201d Mats explored the sweeping changes this next wave of technology could bring to our industry and the wider world.

Another standout session came from Daphne S. Leger,<\/strong> renowned change and innovation expert, who shared her insights on Future-Proof Changeability. Daphne outlined four essential keys to adaptability – providing practical tools for navigating change in both professional and personal settings.

The local perspective was equally compelling, with Gustavo Staufert, General Director of the Guadalajara\u2013Guadalajara brand,<\/strong> showcasing the city\u2019s rich heritage and growing influence in the international meetings industry.

Concluding the programme with an emotionally charged delivery, Felipe Linares, creative director and world builder from COCOLAB,<\/strong> delivered a powerful talk on crafting immersive experiences. \u201cWorldbuilding is not just design-it\u2019s the shaping of emotions and meaning into space,\u201d he shared, reminding attendees to embrace the power of storytelling in creating memorable environments.<\/p>\n

In addition to the keynote sessions, this year\u2019s panel discussions brought meaningful, forward-looking dialogue to the forefront, tackling the complex challenges and opportunities shaping our sector. Topics ranged from sustainable stand construction and talent retention to the evolving dynamics between service providers, venues, and organisers. Delegates explored the value of reverse mentorship and unpacked how to navigate the growing shift toward experiential marketing, sharing diverse perspectives and identifying shared goals for the future.<\/p>\n

The openness of these conversations reflected the evolving maturity of the global IFES community, one that is not afraid to ask tough questions and work collectively towards better outcomes.

Recognising that some of the most valuable moments happen between the formal sessions, this year\u2019s Summit gave greater emphasis to networking with more time built into the agenda for casual connection, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
Whether reconnecting with long-time colleagues or meeting new partners, delegates made the most of the time together – reinforcing why face-to-face engagement continues to be so essential to our industry.
