IFES signs agreement with EXSA

The International Federation of Exhibition and Event Services (IFES) and the Exhibition and Event Association of Southern Africa (EXSA) have formalised a new strategic partnership, marking an important step in strengthening collaboration within the global exhibitions sector. The three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reflects a shared commitment to knowledge exchange, professional development, and increased visibility for their respective members.

Signed by IFES President Jörg Zeißig and EXSA Chair Sibusiso Mncwabe, the agreement builds on an established history of cooperation between the two organisations. By formalising this relationship, both organisations aim to unlock new opportunities for members, align on advocacy priorities, sustainability efforts and business relations, strengthen global ties and enhance the representation of Southern Africa within the international exhibition community.

Closer alignment

The partnership is driven by the shared vision of IFES and EXSA to strengthen the exhibition value chain through closer alignment of expertise. Members will benefit from joint educational initiatives, participation in each organisation’s industry events, and access to shared insights and best practices.

A key focus of the collaboration will be raising visibility and extending networks. Both IFES and EXSA will actively promote each other’s activities, providing members with broader exposure to new markets while reinforcing Southern Africa’s positioning as an important contributor to the international exhibitions landscape.

Global representation

Within the global context, Southern Africa plays a vital role as a hub for regional cooperation and a gateway to wider African markets. The exhibition and business events sectors in the region contribute significantly to tourism, infrastructure development, and international connectivity. This partnership ensures that Southern Africa’s expertise and perspectives are fully represented in shaping the future of the global exhibitions industry.

Commenting on the partnership, IFES President Jörg Zeißig said: “Collaboration is the foundation of progress. By formalising our cooperation with EXSA, we are strengthening regional representation in Southern Africa, gaining new perspectives, and creating new opportunities for our members to engage and grow within the global exhibition community.”

EXSA Chair, Sibusiso Mncwabe added: “This agreement formalises years of practical collaboration between our associations. It represents an important step in ensuring that Southern Africa’s exhibition industry is recognised internationally, while creating tangible benefits for our members through shared knowledge, advocacy, and expanded networks.”

Moving forward together

The MoU establishes a framework for structured cooperation driven by shared goals and mutual benefit. This agreement marks a new chapter for IFES and EXSA, laying the groundwork for stronger industry engagement, enhanced knowledge-sharing, and a more connected global exhibitions community.
